Frequently Asked Questions
What is the OSCE, and why is it important for nurses in Australia?
The Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) is a practical exam designed to test the clinical skills and competencies of nurses applying for registration in Australia. It involves a series of stations where candidates demonstrate their ability to perform essential nursing tasks, such as patient assessments, administering medications, and responding to clinical scenarios. Passing the OSCE is a mandatory step for internationally qualified nurses who wish to become a Registered Nurse in Australia.
Who needs to take the OSCE exam?
Internationally qualified nurses who want to practise in Australia are required to complete the OSCE as part of the registration process. The OSCE tests practical skills and clinical knowledge in a controlled, simulated environment to ensure candidates meet the required standards of care in Australia.

Preparing for the OSCE involves a combination of theoretical study and practical, hands-on practice.
